Trinseo’s Nina Karabash, Global Business Director for Sustainability & MMA, and Alejandra Carrion, Global Sustainability Procurement Development Leader, were each named a 2024 Notable Leader in Sustainability by Plastics News. This list recognizes leaders in the plastics industry who oversee sustainability initiatives and make a measurable impact on the environment through their efforts. Carrion and Karabash were both selected for their ongoing work driving Trinseo’s 2030 Sustainability Goals.
Karabash leads Trinseo's Sustainability Business and Services team, as well as the methyl methacrylate (MMA) business. A key focus for her role is helping Trinseo advance its sustainably advantaged solutions, as well as advocate for this transition within the plastics industry.
“As a professional working for a chemical manufacturer, I believe we have a responsibility to make plastics more sustainable so future generations can continue to benefit from their use without compromising the environment or safety performance,” said Karabash. “I am incredibly proud to lead a team focused on developing circular advancements.”
Carrion has been integral in driving the Company's Suppliers Responsibility Goals, as her team facilitated the Suppliers Sustainability Program, which engaged suppliers in discussions about how their operations could be more sustainable. Alongside this, they also assisted with the implementation of our Scope 3 emissions program, which helped inventory supply chain emissions. Additionally, her team continues to help advance our recycling technologies by building supplier relationships that support sustainable feedstock acquisition for our polycarbonate (PC) dissolution and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) depolymerization technologies.
“Plastics play a vital role in our society, and I deeply appreciate the added value they provide in preserving, protecting and enhancing everyday items,” said Carrion. “I am proud to be leading efforts at Trinseo to drive plastics supply chain collaboration and transformation to help make a circular future a reality.”
